What can I say two books in two days is about right, but it was so late when I finished the Devil’s Contract by Claire Contreras that instead of writing about it I started the Hardwired by Meredith Wild. These books kept me thoroughly entertained for two days, one more than the other, but both were interesting.
In the Devil’s Contract, by Claire Contreras, Amara made a deal to with whom she thought was a family friend to save her father from his extensive gambling debt. Being 17 when she made this agreement, Philip, the “friend”, decides to give her 5 years to grow up go through college and get her self together. Amara assumes she will be working for him in his marketing firm for free to cover her dads debt. Hmph..she ends up working alright.
Colin, Amara’s friend with benefits, is ok with keeping their relationship casual until he tells him she has to leave for “business opportunity in Paris.” He realizes he loves her and tries to make her stay.
I loved the beginning and end of this book. All of the shenanigans in the middle had me confused as hell. This book really missed the left turn at Albuquerque. I kept reading hoping I would understand more or maybe more would be divulged as I kept going. The only thing that came to light just so happened to be the cliffhanger at the end. I guess that is strategic when trying to sell a “series” so for that I will give it 2 out of 5 stars. I still haven’t decided if I can buy the next book. I guess I have time since it isn’t expected until the fall of 2014, hopefully by then I would have forgotten this book.
But then I read…
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this one!
Erica is a recent Harvard Grad who started an online company called Clozpin. Looking for funding for her “baby” she goes to an investment firm, Angelcom. She is the first woman to ever pitch and idea to this group of all male Angel Investors and they intimidate the hell out of her
Blake, former hacker now legit businessman, is taken aback by this beautiful woman pitching a fashion social media site to him and his group of Angel Investors. He turns her down flat, not because of her idea but because he is interested in being more than her financial backer.
This book has it all! I got through this one in a matter of hours and can’t wait to start the second book in the series tonight. This book has it all. A FANTASTIC story line, interesting characters, sex, politics, hackers, drugs, sex, illegitimate children, rape-y stepbrother, more sex and charm bracelets that double as handcuffs. This book was a ball of awesomeness! I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I would like to thank Terry Duryea for recommending this book. You Rock!
