Bonjour mes amis! I have missed you all but I have been reading and although most of it was crap I managed to find a few diamonds in the rough. The first one was: Good Guys Love Dogs by Inglath Cooper.
I was sent this via email, not sure if you can purchase via Kindle/Amazon, but I loved EVERY SECOND of this book. Colby is a single mom of a moody teenager going through puberty. The only vet in a small town in Virginia, she is struggling to figure out how to relate to her daughter again as well as reign in her attraction to Ian while trying to build a “No Kill” shelter for homeless animals.
Ian is a single dad of a troubled teen that gets in a bit of a jam with drugs. Ian things moving him from NY city to this small town in VA for his senior year will allow them time to bond and get on the right track. However, Ian’s high power attorney fiance` isn’t feeling the move and decides to stay in NY and just occasionally visit the guys in VA. When his yellow lab decides to go running in some sticker bushes Ian ends up in Colby’s office and the sparks fly.
This book was so romantic it made me cuddle with my doggy, Blu. The way the characters progress throughout the book is not only believable but a breath of fresh air. Not everything happens as quickly or seamlessly as some of these other books would like you to believe. all the characters even the supporting ones were likable and the story was well thought out and executed. This was a 4.5 out of 5 stars, I definitely recommend.
Then I read Scoring Wilder by R.S Grey. I liked the book; it made me laugh and yearn to be in college again. It’s about this professional soccer player falling for a college freshman soccer player. The only “meh” part of this that I really couldn’t get with was the age difference, she was 19yrs old and he was 25. Granted they are both adults but maybe it’s the mom in me that feels like he is too old for her. The characters are great and I love the cuteness of their relationship which made for a good romance with just the right amount of smut mixed in. I think I should watch more soccer, I didn’t know that guys were so sexy, well except for David Beckham…that man sure knows how to sell some undies! 4 out of 5 stars for this easy going read
I picked this up because I wanted to read something that gave me a little more grit after two sappy love stories. By all means did this do the trick. I found myself giggling allot because this book is written by a Brit so “ass” is “arse” and “sex” is “shagging” and it is hilarious.
We have a hero that is a massive playboy, like straight up different chick every night, tequila drinking, paparazzi magnet. He is rich of course (aren’t they all) and sexy. And our heroine is a bad ass red haired, commitment-phobic lawyer. The chemistry between these two is hot and the sex is off the charts. It was a quick read as it leaves us with a cliff hanger, but the story was good enough that I didn’t mind. 3.5 out of 5 stars
Love you like peanut M&Ms
