Ok, so I have been M.I.A for awhile and although I have read, I haven’t read anything really worth commenting on. That blows considering I’ve read 6 books since my last post.

What I did manage to finish was the series The Intern by Brooke Cumberland.

There are three parts to this story and I’ll be damned if this wasn’t one of the stories that started off strong and then fooled the shit out of me in the end. When I say this story took a wrong turn at Albuquerque(I love when Bugs Bunny says this), I mean this story went so far left that I thought I started a new book.

Cecelia is a 18 yr old senior in high school whose father was murdered in front of her when she was 11 yrs old. She has been devastated and afraid of relationships since then. The case was never solved and she never got closure. Cecelia decides to steal her sister Casey’s college ID and transcripts to apply for an Internship at the investigation firm that helped the police with her father’s case in hopes to get some information and maybe solve the mystery of the drive by shooting that stole her first love.

Bentley is a former male model who stops modeling because his father wants him to work at the investigation firm but Bentley’s heart isn’t in it. He keeps messing up because he can’t keep from thinking with his little head instead of the big one. See where I’m going with this…

The story started out pretty good. I found myself rooting for Cece and her detective work and each time she was almost caught I held my breath like “NO!!” I was a bit creeped out by the sexy time in the book because of the age difference, I believe he was 26 or 27 and she is only 18, although that’s legal, I remember at 18 thinking 30 was old and was certain that old men had saggy balls which is gross. Any who, by book 2 we are still ok with the story and how it’s progressing. Cece has some pretty close calls as she digs deeper into her fathers shooting as she tries to continue with her ruse at the firm. We have now come to book 3. W T F! You mean to tell me I waited all month for SH!T. I was pissed. The story tries to cover 5 years in 163 pages and it fails miserably. Well not miserably but pretty darn close. The father’s murder, which was to me the premise of the damn story, gets pushed so far to the wayside it doesn’t come up again until like 84% of the book is read. The love story now takes precedence and its DUMB. Yes I said it DUMB

This started off great like so many other series do just to fall flat on it’s ass…as a whole I give this a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
