I attempted to do something that I’ve never done before and that’s read two books at once. As you know Kindle and I have spent less time together, however, I can’t seem to stop reading. I’ve downloaded the Kindle App on my cell so I’m never far away from a book.
Broken (#1 Nick) by Annie Jocoby was the book I managed to read via Kindle Fire. The synopsis of the book had me intrigued so I went for it, I mean hell it was a series and even though lately I’ve detested serial books I decided to give it a try. All I can really say is, Meh. I could take it or leave it. The “heroine” is ok she isn’t very memorable but she serves her purpose. I liked the back story she was given which lends to her totally dysfunctional dating habits and views on men. However, I wasn’t really feeling the male lead. I am not much for bi-sexual men, that fact that he was, kind of turned me off. His story was an odd one, the author didn’t delve into it much just glossed over certain things from his past here and there which made me yearn to know more. Maybe it will be explained in the other books but her writing was so “all over the place” that I found myself with a mental “red pen” during most of the book.
The story was sort of believable…kinda…ok it worked for what the author was trying to do. The characters were under developed and the situations weren’t well thought out. What I really wanna know is who proof reads and edits some of these books? I am by no means an English professor, I have a love of commas and will put then ANY WHERE! But I’m not getting paid for this so for $4.99 a pop I will not continue this series. I’ll wait for it to go on sale 0.99 is about right 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Simultaneously I am reading Random Acts of Crazy by Julia Kent. I am not finished with this yet but so far it’s pretty good. Darla finds some random hot guy walking down I-76 butt naked with a spiked collar and guitar covering his juicy bits. Trevor, the lead singer in the band Random Acts of Crazy, is as high as the Seattle space needle after eating half a bag of stolen peyote. Walking down the interstate he is a long way from home and doesn’t know how he got there..he hops in the car with Darla and the adventure begins..I haven’t finished this yet but it’s shaping up very nicely. I should have this done by tomorrow so stay tuned for a better review on this book.
