The 3rd book in the series of Penny Reid’s, Knitting in the City, was pretty cute. I have a habit of picking books out-of-order but only if they can be read as stand-alone novels. It’s my humble opinion that every character doesn’t need their own story. Some people are meant to be side kicks or supporting cast you know. I mean they never made a movie about Robin with out Batman and unless you were and comic book junkie the Hollywood Machine knew the masses would never go see such a thing. But I digress.
The story is about child psychiatrist, Sandra Fielding, and her inability to find Mr. Right, hell girlfriend can’t even find Mr. Right Now. Every date she has been on for the last two years has resulted in the man leaving the table crying and Sandra finishing the meal alone. Alex, her waiter, has been watching this happen for two years. Secretly wondering if she is a man-eater or if the guys she is dating are just dense he decides to make his move on the love shrink.
The courtship of this odd couple is so adorable that I finished it in a day. I found myself giggling at Sandra and her Knit Club girlfriend’s inappropriate dinner fare and conversations. Loving the banter that she has with Alex who won’t let her shrink his brain and Googling some of these darn computer terms. The bit of mystery that surrounds our sexy hero Alex made him more intriguing and lovable. Alex has one secret that surprised even me! This is like Sex in the City meets The Net and makes for a cool quick read too light on the sexy time for my dirty mind but I still liked it all the same. 4 out of 5 for this cute book.
