On the 6th day of Lit-Mas…

My true love gave to me…Pe-nel-ope!!!

My Skylar by Penelope Ward was the best book I read this summer and loved Loved LOVED it. Like most of the books I read, I found this gem in the “Recommended for you” section on Amazon. I read the synopsis and decided to give it a go. After I finished this book, I called, texted, Facebooked, Tweeted, and blogged to anyone that would listen about how much I enjoyed this book. And if you still haven’t read it….SLAP YOURSELF! TWICE!!

This book follows the relationship of Mitch and Skylar through the 15 years of their on again off again romance. They first meet as kids, like 8-9 years old, then life happens and Mitch has to move. Fast forward a few years to high school and this is when it gets good.

I felt so many emotions while reading this that I hardly enjoyed the beach that I was sitting on while I read. I mean my 4-year-old literally buried me in the sand while I was entranced in this book. I laughed, I cried, I yelled I cried some more and then I freaked out because I knew this book hangover was gonna take some time. I loved Skylar because she wasn’t the typical whiny, wimpy female lead that pined away for a guy. Mitch was so damn perfect I fell in love with him and it took a lot to knock him down a peg on the book boyfriend list and that’s only because I dream nightly of Nick Bateman as Miles from Ugly Love..<———— Nick Bateman see my dilemma. Anyway, the way Mitch loves Skylar through everything is epic. Their love story is one that I can and will cherish forever. I can’t recommend it enough 5 out of 5 stars!!
