On the 10th day of Lit-Mas

My true love gave to me…another dark novel that made my head hurt

Mud Vein Mud Vein, by Tarryn Fisher, I must say is one of the books that was a complete “mind f*ck” in 2014 but in a good way. Two other books took me on a complicated ride one I loved and one I wanted to slap the author for. However, I will say that author has redeemed herself and her face I no longer want to slap but I digress…

So this was the synopsis for this book..When reclusive novelist Senna Richards wakes up on her thirty-third birthday, everything has changed. Caged behind an electrical fence, locked in a house in the middle of the snow, Senna is left to decode the clues to find out why she was taken. If she wants her freedom, she has to take a close look at her past. But, her past has a heartbeat… and her kidnapper is nowhere to be found. With her survival hanging by a thread, Senna soon realizes this is a game. A dangerous one. Only the truth can set her free.

Wwwhhhaaaatttt…Good right! I couldn’t wait to read this. Not to mention my Ace in the Hole, Paige, loved it so I knew it was gonna be good. This book was deep, gritty, emotional, some what loving, totally captivating and just EVERYTHING. There is not one word that can wrap up this book. It was too much of..well..everything. I don’t think I’ve ever been completely stumped by a book. After the first chapter I was dying trying to figure it all out but was met with a slammed door every time I thought I had it. That was the major draw for me, I usually have mysteries figured out which for me is awesome and makes me feel smart but not with this book. Now I will tell you even though it was emotional it was NOT a love story..there is nothing romantic about this book. Even one of my favorite quotes though romantic but also gut-wrenching at the same time..

“You’ve been silent your whole life. You were silent when we met, silent when you suffered. Silent when life kept hitting you. I was like that too, a little. But not like you. You are a stillness. And I tried to move you. It didn’t work. But that doesn’t mean you didn’t move me. I heard everything you didn’t say. I heard it so loudly that I couldn’t shut it off. Your silence, Senna, I hear it so loudly.”

So yeah this one is definitely one of my most interesting reads in 2014..I can’t call it a favorite but it was damn sure worth my time so for that 5 out of 5 stars for the fantastic Ms. Fisher! She is amaze-balls!
