Blurred Lines Review

And I’m not talking Robin Thicke and Pharell…although this was just as good!

I was given the opportunity to read Blurred Lines by Jen McLaughlin prior to release day (today) in exchange for my honest review. So of course before we get to that here’s the synopsis

blurredlinesSYNOPSIS: Once burned…

Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might’ve been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn’t been with her. For the past eight years I’ve been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I’d decided there wasn’t any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Twice shy…

I’d already found the love of my life, but I’d lost that love forever. And I’d been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again. That is, until I find out who he really is…and by then, it’s far too late to correct the mistakes we’ve already made. By the time we both know the truth, the lines have already been blurred beyond recognition.

Loved this terribly short read, only 190 pages! That’s right I am complaining that I wanted this story to last longer! It was your typical recipe of 1 cup woman who lost love + 1 cup man who sworn off love = Instalove Romance Novel, however repetitive the recipe is if the baker sucks then so does the end product and this “baker” didn’t suck. She actually did a great job.

The opening paragraph had me hooked and didn’t let go. I was on an amazing rollercoaster that I didn’t want to get off. Noelle and Riley met under the craziest of circumstances and why oh why can’t life be like this for real? Why do romance authors get to have all the fun, I mean seriously. I want to crawl in their heads and just live there with fantastic sexy men with huge..Oh wait the review…sorry, I digress.

Noelle and Riley’s start was almost as perfect as their end but not as juicy as their middle. That’s right folks the midway point of this story was when I was most excited! I sat straight up in bed at precisely 4:47a.m and gasped,”NO!” as I clutched my imaginary pearls. At that point I knew I was a goner. No it was actually at this point that I knew I was a goner;

“Did you just actually propose to me, for real, while your cock was in my mouth?” ~Noelle

Either way, I wasn’t going to be happy because I knew this story was coming to an end soon. You know when you look down at the status bar on your Kindle and realize you’re about to leave this perfect imaginary world and want 100 more pages to magically appear? Yeah that about sums it up. This book is actually part of a series. It is book 5 of the Out of Line series, which focuses on Carrie & Finn, Riley’s best friends. I’m thinking I may just go back and start with book 1 just because I liked this one so much even though it can be read as a standalone. But I’m not going to rate it I want more of Riley and Noelle dammit! I am going to hold my breath until I turn blue unless I get what I wantblueface! Okay I’m black and that will never work but still…5 stars for this quickie!
