Oh My Hearts…

I picked up Kaleidoscope Hearts this weekend needing something to pass the time before I started the two books I’ve waited all month for. Claire Contreras did not disappoint. I have a new book in my Top Fave!

Synopsis: He was my older brother’s best friend. He was never supposed to be mine. I thought we would get it out of our system and move on.
One of us did.
One of us left.
Now he’s back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I’d turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me. He broke my heart last time.
This time he’ll obliterate it.

OH. MY. GOD. I loved this book. It was so romantic and angsty and just everything. Estelle is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and start over after a major loss. She moves in with her brother until her house is sold and she gets her own place. Oliver is her brother’s best friend and resident hottie. Any by resident I mean McSteamy as in Doctor Hottie! Yeah and I’m sure you can figure out the rest.  Estelle is a great heroine..not a pushover although when it comes to Oliver, she can’t seem to keep her guard up no matter how hard she tries. Oh and semi-spoiler “bathroom scene” that’s all I’m gonna say.

I enjoyed how the story was told mainly in Estelle’s POV but occasionally switched to Oliver’s just to give you a little more insight into their complicated situation. I also loved the bittersweet of it all. Oliver wasn’t overbearing or an asshole; he was sweet and confused, which made me love him even more. He has a plan and as much as he wants Estelle, she doesn’t “fit” into it. He’s constantly trying to fight what he’s feeling vs what he “should” do and it’s so damn complicated.

“And how do you know she’s the one?” I whisper, wiping the tears spilling down my face. He brings a hand up to my cheek and caresses over it with his thumb. “I know because, when she’s not with me, I feel like I lack oxygen, and even when I am with her, I feel like I can’t breathe enough.”

This is a 5 star romantic read!!
