I was so excited when this book hit my Kindle I stopped what I was already 65% through to catch up with Gavin and Lily. If you didn’t read the first book I am a little ashamed of you, especially since I was adamant about how cool this author was. It was like reading a movie complete with a quote from Biggie Smalls (lol).
Synopsis: Needing a fresh start, Lily decides to escape her life in Washington, DC to join Gavin in London. Trust and faith have never come easily to Lily. She’ll be put to the test now that she and Gavin are living under the same roof. To make matters worse, trouble finds Lily wherever she goes. She thought she’d rid herself of her late husband’s demons, but she soon learns that when you make a deal with the devil, he often comes back to up the ante. Can she learn to let Gavin in or will she continue to fight her battles alone? Find out what happens When Fate Isn’t Enough.
Review: After narrowly escaping the drug cartel Lily takes up her BF offer of moving across the pond for some R&R. Yeah right. Not only does trouble follow her but it gets mob hit deep! Of course it starts off a little slow but it doesn’t take long to pick up..NOT. AT. ALL. I fell in love with Lily’s smart mouth and love of hip hop in book 1 and of course she doesn’t disappoint me in book 2:
“Damn, it’s brass monkeys,” Liam says as he rubs his hands together. I slip my gloves on. “Brass monkey? As in the Beastie Boys song?” I ask. “No, as in it’s cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey,”
This time her troubles are more than the mob…’member that bi-yatch, Olivia, from Book 1? Mmm hmmm! Anyway, my man Gavin is still sexy as ever with his hot accent and hotter body.
” When I finally have you again, taste you again, you’d better be in tip top shape, because you’re not going to be able to move for days after I’m through with you.”
Yup. He said that. This time Gavin has some hottie friends that we get to meet and they are just as sexy and funny! But he isn’t the only one with new friends. We get to also meet Lily and Em’s showgirl home girl, Brittany and her mouth is as trashy as they come. I snickered a bit when she said:
“I have a strict no pussy policy in this house. That goes for whores trying to sleep with my husband and cowards hiding out. Time to face the music.”
Loved it. The whole book, just loved it. Once again, I am in awe at how she (Lily) pulls off some of the things she does but hey it wouldn’t be fiction if some of this ish wasn’t unrealistic eh. So 4.5 out of 5 stars for this great follow up..why not 5 stars you ask? Well that half of star is sitting in the corner pouting because the cliffhanger was so good that it doesn’t wanna wait for book 3 (Which from the ending looks like it’ll be told from Gavin’s POV).
