Once again I was sucked into a serial. I am not upset it is just really hard to write about works that are undone. What if it takes a turn for the worse and those 5 stars turn to 3?? I’ve had that happen too many times to count. However, I am glutton for punishment and will continue a series until it’s done unless I feel like it is sucking away at my soul like H.M. Ward did with the Arrangement series. WTF I had to stop at 15 I was like this sh*t is getting out of hand now! $2.99 per book for like 70 pages. Yeah I was an idiot and One-Click is still the devil…but I digress.
SYNOPSIS: Lyric Scott has always had a good life. Outgoing, spunky, and musically talented, she’s constantly surrounded by family and friends, yet she still feels there’s something missing.
Then she meets her new next-door neighbor Ayden Gregory. Mysterious, sweet, and sad, Ayden is the exact opposite of Lyric and exactly what she needs to fill the void in her life.
Ayden has been through more than most people and believes his life is always going to be rocky, so when he’s suddenly adopted by the Gregory’s, he’s thrown for a turn. But even with a new, loving family, he still finds himself haunted by the memories of his old life. The only true breath of fresh air is when he’s with his best friend, Lyric Scott.
As Lyric and Ayden grow closer, the lines of their friendship start to blur. But when Ayden’s past unexpectedly pushes its way into his new life, their friendship and newfound attraction will be tested.
**A novel about Ella and Micha’s daughter and Lila and Ethan’s son from The Secret Series. However, this series can be read on its own.*
Review: I am in awe with this story! There is no sex (WTF I know right??!??!) just a lot of kissing and touching as they are teenagers. I know, I know me reading a book with no smut is rare but I love this series…so far. I devoured book one in a matter of hours and One-clicked book 2 immediately, book 3 was released on Tuesday I bought it Wednesday and finished it Thursday. Now I am all caught up and pissed I can’t find out what happens next until June. I swear this is like when you favorite show does its “season finale” and you’re pissed because you are stuck with reruns.
I am not really sure how to classify this book, I guess maybe a romantic thriller because there is some freaky sh*t going on and I am dying to know how it all relates to my baby Ayden. Yes he’s my baby I’ve adopted him because I love him, in that motherly way. He’s too young to be BBF material but I just want to hug him and tell him it will all be Okay. He is beautiful and has a good spirit; you can’t help but want to hug and hold him. I can’t tell you what he’s been through because honestly I don’t know. That is what makes this story so darn good. You know he was abused but you don’t know how. That is the journey you are on while reading this. Trying to navigate through his repressed memories while he makes new ones with his new family and the girl he’s grown to love, Lyric.
Lyric is a hilarious mess! Not mess in a bad way… she is definitely the daughter I would want if I had a little girl. She isn’t super popular but she isn’t an outcast either. She is one of those girls you like because she likes everyone. She is extremely optimistic about life and it makes it fun to read her (this story is told in both characters POV). Lyric is just as important to this story as Ayden. Lyric is the present and his past is what’s keeping them from being able to completely live and love freely. I can’t really go into too much more or I will spoil it but this is a great read whether your 16 or 60 years old. Great job Jessica Sorensen! 4.5 stars BOOK ONE IS CURRENTLY FREE!
