I have been on a military JAG lately..get it JAG, oh well I thought it was funny. Anyway, the last few (3) books I’ve read has had military heroes and although I tend to shy away from those these novels were fantastic and I know now what I’ve been missing.
Here With Me and Choose Me by Heidi McLaughlin were two great books. I adored them both and after reading book 1 I had no choice but to feed the One-Click beast. I reviewed them separately so this post is gonna be longer than normal please bear with me guys.
Synopsis: Ryley Clarke has grown up with the military in her blood, with both parents serving their country. Ryley knows the risks of being married to the military. But when the unthinkable happens, and her future husband is killed in action, Ryley can barely survive… until Evan’s twin brother, Nate, helps her pick up the pieces.
After serving on a special mission with the military for six years, Evan Archer returns home to find the unthinkable – the love of his life, Ryley Clarke – engaged to his brother, Nate. With Nate on deployment, Evan needs to figure out what happened in his absence, and more importantly, how to win Ryley back from the man he once considered his best friend, but now thinks of as his rival.
Review of Here With Me: This book was an awesome start to this series! I was a little confused at first but it was cleared up quickly. I was Team Evan all the way, you could feel the love through the book they way these characters just clicked. Reading their memories also helped…tee hee. Which is why I immediately had a strong dislike for Nate and Ryley’s engagement/love affair. How can you say someone is the love of your life but move on with their sibling. That is so against Man Law and Girl Code! I don’t care if the person, dies, gives their blessing or offers to officiate the wedding. DO NOT sleep with my sister EVER. Then I tried to sympathize with her because they are twins so maybe she went with it because they looked alike…naw that still isn’t cool. But as the story went on I found myself more engrossed in the subplot then the love triangle. Although the love triangle was interesting and I was totally still Team Evan (fuck Nate). The supporting characters were so well written that you can just see so many stories developing from this one book. I found myself wanting to know more about each and every one of them…not to mention there was no smut. That’s right folks, NO SMUT in book one. I know right!???!! Shocking how much I loved it in spite of my love for the dirty dirty. So 5 stars for the start of this series; one I am glad I waited to start since book 2 was already released because the cliffhanger had me once again feeding my One-Click addiction.

Synopsis: Two brothers.
Lives ripped apart, shattered and rebuilt.
Evan and Nate Archer: Brothers, best friends, warriors and now enemies. Both in love with the same woman. Both determined to fight for what they want.
Nate Archer promised to protect Ryley Clarke in the event Evan didn’t make it back. It’s a promise between brothers since the early days of basic training. Nate never considered that his feelings, long buried since high school, would resurface and grow stronger.
Evan Archer wants answers. He wants someone to pay. After being gone for an unprecedented amount of time, nothing is making sense now that he’s home. Most of all, he can’t understand how his brother ended up engaged to his fiancée. Evan is determined to uncover the mystery, and win back his family.
The Archers are about to fight dirty.
Review of Choose Me: Nate comes home from training before his deployment to find Ryley and Evan together with his son…Say what??!! Did I forget to mention there was a kid…well didn’t wanna spoil it. Ryley had just found out she was pregnant before Evan went away. So yeah EJ, who is cute as a button, is in the middle because Uncle Nate is “daddy” and Dad, Evan, is on the outside looking in trying to figure out how his namesake is calling his brother Daddy. Yeah at this point I am still Team Evan. Ryley is so confused but she does do something I respect, she tells them both to back off because she needs to figure out what is best for her and Ej. However, I am still more interested in the subplot. The whole “whodunnit” of it all. A six-year mission is unheard of and I wanna know what happened. As the story progresses and the pieces start to fall in place I no longer hate Nate, I feel bad for him but don’t get it twisted I am still Team Evan but I’m starting to like Nate a bit. I can’t go on any further except to say I better get more books about the other members of SEAL Team 3 because this 5+ series set up for some really good follow-up! This didn’t end in a cliffhanger but you will definitely want to know more.
