Neither was throwing my cell in the lake and taking a job as PA for Dirty B, America’s favorite rock band, complete with every teen girl’s dream man, the eldest of the Burke brothers.
Tate Burke is pure sex. Women actually throw their panties at him during shows. And Ella Dawson is the lucky little thing that gets to escort their fangirling butts out when he’s done with them.
He’s a cocky son of a bitch, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. Every now and then Ella gets a rare glimpse of the Tate behind the “bad boy” act, and it attracts her in the most annoying way. The most annoying, heart-thumping, panty-wetting way.
When her abusive ex turns up at the hotel room Ella and Tate are sharing, raging mad, she knows she’ll need more than just a little protection. Tate sees red, and Ella can’t help but lean on him, despite his bad-boy ways.
And now? Now, he’s in a whole lot of trouble.
I stare at Ella as the blonde chick is removed. Clingy bitches. Rolling my shoulders, I rest my hands either side of the doorframe, and ask Ella, “How’d you find tonight?”
She steps back. “It was awesome until you called me to clean up your mess.”
“It’s in your contract, darlin’.”
Her eyes spark with annoyance. “Actually, it says nothing about removing your entertainment.”
I lean forward. “Then I’ll make a note to amend it in the mornin’. And, for what it’s worth, that wasn’t cleaning up my mess. If I wanted you to do that I woulda called you five minutes earlier and had you in the fuckin’ shower with me, Els.” My eyes ghost down her body, lingering at her full breasts and toned thighs.
Thinking of her in the shower, naked and wet, is doing fuck all for the erection I can’t get rid of. In fact, it’s downright painful right now.
She stares at me stonily, that annoyed spark flaring into full-fledged anger. “Believe me, Mr. Burke, if the impossible happens and you somehow get me in a shower with you, I’d probably drown you, not clean you.”
“Tate. My name is Tate.”
“And mine is Ella.”
Review: I loved this freaking book. I started and finished it in one sitting. It is the second book in the series, Dirty Secret is the first, but can be read as a standalone.
Ella is rich and she is running. Like Julia Roberts Run Away Bride running from her sick ex-fiance` and her uppity family. She is stronger than she gives herself credit for because she doesn’t take any shit from Tate, her new boss. I love how she keeps re-affirming her worth even if it’s to herself. She knows she deserves better that what she’s been getting for the past 2 years and she is going to get it even if that means ditching all the money and status. But who can really complain when your new job is running around with rock stars? Seriously I need that kind of job.
Tate is a sexy tattooed guitar god. He is also a smart ass who either drives his PAs crazy or he bangs them and then replaces them. But underneath all that cockiness you can tell he is a teddy bear and that is what makes you like him from the start. The smut factor could’ve been ratcheted up a notch but I’m not complaining (lol).
Another thing I love about this is that it’s told from both characters POV. This will automatically score points with me. I hate when I am left guessing how the other person feels or what they are thinking. Even though the story is more about Ella and her struggle to get from under her ex’s fist (the sorry bastard) it’s great to read how Tate handles his growing feeling for her as well, so 5 stars for Dirty Past.
Emma Hart definitely has a fan in me.
Author Bio: By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies – usually wine – and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling(or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy – unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
