THE VOYEUR NEXT DOOR BLURB:

He lived next door.

Alison Eckrich was an expert at being invisible. Having been raised by a mother who saw only flaws, she had learned long ago to watch and never participate. Until him. He was gorgeous from what little she could make out through his bathroom window and he awakened things inside her she had always been told was wrong. But she didn’t care.

She was addicted.

Gabriel Madoc was no stranger to the cold sting of betrayal. His broken heart had left him hard and bitter and that was how he liked it. Until her. She was a vision in the soft twilight. Everything about her called to him. It didn’t even matter he couldn’t see her face.

He wanted her.

The rules were simple: No names. No faces. No attachments. They both had what the other needed so long as they never broke the rules. But what will happen when the mystery is unveiled and they both come face to face with the truth and each other? Is what they shared in the cloak of darkness enough to keep them together, or will reality tear them apart?

Review: I loved this book. I believe most people are voyeurs by nature, we love to look, watch and make assumptions about people and their lives so this book was right up my alley.

Gabriel was the man! And I adore an alpha that is damaged…he went through something that would drastically change anyone and now he is fighting who he really is because he doesn’t feel worthy any more. Aww poor baby. What I adored most was how he just said what he felt. He loved his family fiercely, especially his sister Tamara and grandfather Earl, who raised him after his father died. Gabe said what was on his mind and didn’t care if it offended anyone.

“Why do they keep getting younger?” he demanded of Earl. “You’re going to break a damn hip…again, and I’m going to have to listen while you explain to the doctor how you broke the f***ing thing…again! You’re eighty years old, Grandpa!” ~Gabriel

Alison was also an awesome character. She was an introvert who has serious self esteem and confidence issues, however, she wasn’t “weak”. She hid behind big glasses and frumpy clothing because of the sufferance she received when she was younger.

“My mother used to joke that watching me eat made her sick. She would invite people over just to watch me. They would laugh and point and…” ~Ali

That type of abuse sticks with you for years and it is clear in Ali’s choice of hobbies and relationships.
She’s freaking hilarious as she hides some of her insecurities behind sarcasm which makes for a fun read as well. But my favorite character was Grandpa Earl! At eighty he was a fiesty old coot and I loved it. He gave plenty of unsolicited advice that made me giggle.

“Your stick doesn’t magically get waxed on its own and eventually, you’ll give yourself blisters” ~Grandpa Earl on Gabe’s lack of female companions.

or when he told Ali

“Don’t mind Gabriel. His mother drank while she was pregnant”

The story flowed effortlessly and I found myself finishing this in one sitting. The sex and non-sex was definitely hot! So 4.5 stars for this pretty good love story, it’ll make you wanna grab some binoculars and spy on your neighbors
