Dear Isabelle Richards,
I hate you. Yup I said it and yup that’s a pretty strong statement. Okay I am sure you are wondering why I feel this way; well let me tell you. I just finished your new book, Hate To Love You, and guess what?!!!??? I hate that I loved it dammit!! I hate that this book was so wonderfully written I woke up at 5am TWO mornings in a row because I couldn’t stop thinking about what was going to happen next. I loved that you always reference guilty pleasure songs in all of your novels. I hate that I now have to sit here and write a 5 star review. And finally I love that you had the AUDACITY to end this book with a cliffhanger knowing how impatient I really am. DAMN. YOU.
SYNOPSIS: Opposites in every way, Chase and Arianna have been bitter rivals since childhood. Constantly in competition, they fight incessantly, making it nearly impossible for them to be in the same room with each other. Until they slept together.
Sex changes everything.
In one emotional evening, they go from enemies to lovers. Hate quickly evolves into passionate lust, but old habits die hard. The love growing between them can’t erase a lifetime of animosity. The two quickly fall back into old routines of spite and vengeance, and their relationship crumbles under the weight of their deep-seated distrust.
Chase and Arianna spend the next two years on opposite sides of the globe, avoiding each other at all costs. Despite the lies they tell themselves, neither one is ready to let go. Even though they are both engaged to other people, they can’t find it in their hearts to forgive each other or to move forward.
A family emergency calls Arianna home, where they have no choice but to face each other again. Will they finally admit the truth, or will they remain forever trapped between love and hate?
Review: Great. Effin. Story. This is the second Second-Chance romance novel I’ve read this month that I absolutely adored so I am wondering if this could be “Second Chance September”? Ha! Anyway…I enjoyed every minute of this wonderfully written book. It was funny, sad and hot all rolled in one and best described as a Taylor Swift mash-up!! Our hero and heroine were so intricately placed throughout each others lives that you totally get the correlation to the title. You also get so emotionally invested in the two of them that you will find yourself screaming ” tell him/tell her” that whole time. There was actually Kindle yelling at some points. I love Chase to pieces and I like Ari a bunches too and it totally helps that his was written in dual POV. I was confused a little in the beginning but then it all clicked into place and flowed well.
The supporting characters were awesome! Every single one of them is needed to make this story as good as it is. Jenna, however, is a biatch and I can’t wait to see what she pulls in book 2 and if what she does in this book is any indication I am sure the fall out will be GREAT. She reminds me of Nan from the Abbi Glines series and we all know how much I hate Nan.
There is one flaw in the whole book, just one. See Chase is the quarterback for the 49ers and they have a game against the Baltimore Ravens in which Ms. Richards takes creative liberty to have said 49ers beat my beloved Baltimore Ravens. Yeah this was a major problem for me. Especially as we spank the Niners like new born babies…often. And once in the SuperBowl…IJS. So be that as it may I give this new release a 4.9 out of 5 star rating…yes, Mrs. Richards I am that petty
