I was in a reading rut. Instead of reading what I wanted to, I was reading more out of obligation. Some for school and some for this blog. I know, I get advanced copies of books to review and for that I am grateful, however; when the book isn’t good I feel awful, when books on my TBR become available and I have no time to read them I feel worse. So I decided to take a break for a bit an catch up on some of the fun stuff I’ve been missing and this book was definitely one of them.
Synopsis: With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.
Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he’s too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.
The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.
Review: I laughed so damn hard reading this book that I’m giving it 5 stars for that alone. Ok, maybe not just for that; obviously the story was damned good too.
I was immediately in awe of Violet. When I say that she entered this story with a bang! Well almost a bang as she was so rudely interrupted by her meddling mother. Violet wasn’t one of those super wussy leads and she wasn’t Madame feminist either she was the right mix of sass and sweet. I freaking loved her. I especially loved how she rambled when she was nervous; this made for comedy gold.
First things first, Alex manscapes: there’s no 70s style dick fro going on down there. ~Violet
However, there is one thing that wasn’t for me. I’m all for monster cocks. The bigger the better, however, I am not a fan of the uncut. They look weird to me; like ant-eaters or something. Eww.
Alex is total book boyfriend material. He plays a sport, has abs for days, total gentleman, doesn’t sport a dick fro and has a monster cock. What more can a girl ask for? No seriously, I’ll wait…
Alex is so cute because he is so opposite of what we’re lead to believe; which is another reason why I loved this love story. He is so clueless you just gotta love him.
So 5 stars guys, but I said that already. If you haven’t read this yet please do, I am so pissed I waited this long. Get it on Amazon HERE This is the first in a series of standalones, Pucked Up is book 2 and Pucked Over is book 3 releasing on January 24th!
