New Release…Legend

I swear I don’t mean to read books out of order..sometimes I don’t even realize until I good and into it that it’s part of a series and that was definitely the case with this book. I had no issues following along with this story though…

Review: Holy Hot Fighter Boy Batman!! Yes I love a hot fighter story, no I don’t watch MMA or boxing on TV, yes I think a man that can beat the snot out of another man is hot, no I don’t ever wanna see it happen. But author Katy Evans did a wonderful job with her final installment in The Real series, I was drawn in from the very beginning.

Maverick is young, hot and hungry. Not starving for food hungry; starving for a chance to prove himself hungry. Maverick is hoping for a shot at the champ, Remy, and the only way to get to him is through the Underground fighting circuit. He has the skill and theLEGEND 2 build to get to the top but no one wants to train him because of who is father is and he can’t register for the fights without a coach. This is the part of the story that I had to get second hand (because I didn’t read the previous books, don’t kill me I got this as an ARC) but from what I gather his dad was an a$$hole of epic proportions. The love story of this was just a good as Maverick’s struggle to the top. I loved how he slowly fell for Reese and even after he found out who she was he still loved her and all her broken parts.

LEGEND 1Reese and Maverick seemed to just fit from the beginning. She is a good heroine to Mav’s hero, they complimented each other with the hard and soft of it all. Reese was battling her own demons..she wasn’t perfect and I loved it. Her demons are those that most girls and women can identify with. I loved that about the story and I especially loved how her past didn’t make her weak it made her real and want for a better life. When she figured out who he was and why he was so “untouchable” her choice to see him for him and not his past was a great testament to her character. She does everything she can to help him without betraying her family.

Without giving too much away I will say this was a great story. Not having read the other books I am still giving this book a 5 star rating! I won’t say it can be read as a stand alone because the other characters have a history that entwines with Maverick’s and help fuel his passion but if you read only this one without the others you definitely will NOT be disappointed.

legend katyBook Blurb: Maverick “the Avenger” Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he’s known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He’s got a personal score to settle with the Underground’s one and only Remington “Riptide” Tate.

As Mav trains, he meets a young girl—the only other new person in the town–and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she’s none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. A girl who’s supposed to root against him and a girl he’s supposed to stay away from.

But Maverick fights for the woman in his heart, and the monsters in his blood. The world’s eyes are on them and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion; the ultimate LEGEND.

* LEGEND is the 6th and final installment of the REAL series, but it can also be read as standalone or after the three Remington and Brooke books (Real/Mine/Remy.)
