Lisa’s Lil Note: I pride myself on not spoiling stuff and I promise to continue doing that, however; this book ends with a cliffhanger so if you decide to wait before picking this up I get it. I know some people like to wait until a series is complete so I wanted to give you that option….
Blurb: 1. Give you a cup of sugar
2. Let you borrow his lawnmower
3. Water your plants while you’re on vacation
4. Make your eyes roll back in your head
Katya Tocci has never paid much attention to who lives next door – her career always kept her too busy. She’s a good girl, working her way to becoming the most sought after cake designer in all of San Francisco.
But even a good girl’s gotta cut loose once in a while, right? So one fake dating profile later, and she’s ready to tarnish her squeaky clean image. Little does she know, her fun time is closer to home than she ever imagined.
Throw in a neighbor who wants to corrupt her, and another who just wants to own her, and her entire world is flipped upside down.
Review: This book was a mix of Whaaattt!! and WTF??? I literally couldn’t figure out how I felt about it. I read it awhile ago and I wasn’t sure if I could actually write a review on it and my plan was to wait for Book 2. So let me say this, it’s a middle of the road – read between some ish – type of book. I know, I know, how can I say that when this book ends in a cliffhanger? Well, because it will piss you off when you read this and you will need some wine and a good book to make up for what you just read. I am not by any means saying this is a bad book. Nope. Not at all, it’s just – very incomplete. Meaning, the characters are flat and the story needs to be fleshed out more. I couldn’t connect with any of them and as much as I wanted to love the bad boy like I typically do, this time I was rooting for the good guy. This time the bad guy was so much of an A$$hole that I couldn’t, in good faith root for him. I wanted to slap him most of the time and her for even considering loving let alone liking this asshat.
What completely saved this book was the actual plot. Katya is in one helluva love triangle with Liam (nice guy) and Wulfric (the prick) she’s dating them both and there’s no “commitment” so she’s not cheating she just needs to pick one. The relationship she has with Liam is awesome, like I said, and the relationship with Wulfy…well it is what it is, however, there is one relationship that is thrown in there that will make you say Wait…what!?!! Shut the front door!! So for the start of a series I will give this 3 stars. I will read the second book to see how this all plays out.
