Blurb: Samantha Sawyer, a busy college junior, is thrown a curveball when she’s asked to mentor Adriana, a shy freshman with secrets and mysteries.
Unfortunately, these secrets lead Sam into a dangerous game she’s not sure she can win. Her salvation comes packaged in the tall, sexy, and self-assured Blake Angel. Can he save her, or is he really the devil in disguise?
Review: I like sports. I love romance novels. I really like when something I love and like come together to give me a great story. Now other than being Samantha’s major, I really could’ve done without the sports angle in this book even though I like sports. I mean I get her tie to baseball and it is very meaningful to her but it doesn’t help the story at all so far but I’ll get to that in a minute. Up to Bat is pretty awesome. It started a little slow for me but when it took off IT. TOOK. OFF. I found myself having to reread a few things just to make sure I didn’t miss something.
Sam is a cool but a little lost. She’s lost in her past and she is having a hard time letting it go. That is my only gripe about her. You can clearly see she is strong and focused and a character I like. She and Blake drive this thing full speed with Adriana totally being the back seat “Are we there yet” kid. Each character you meet ends up playing some kind of
Like I said once it gets going things develop pretty quickly and you end up forgetting about sports, college, and classes and get sucked into all the drama, and there is plenty of it to go around. I felt like I was watching a movie and couldn’t put it down. I was trying to figure who’s on first and I’ll be damned if it didn’t end in a cliffy! Talk about pissed! Not because it was bad but because this sucker got so damn good that when it ended I dropped my Kindle and yelled now I have to wait and completely Facebook stalk the author. So 4.75 stars for the beginning of what looks to be the promising start to a pretty good series.
