the-life-intended-9781476754178_lgBlurb: After her husband’s sudden death over ten years ago, Kate Waithman never expected to be lucky enough to find another love of her life. But now she’s planning her second walk down the aisle to a perfectly nice man. So why isn’t she more excited?

At first, Kate blames her lack of sleep on stress. But when she starts seeing Patrick, her late husband, in her dreams, she begins to wonder if she’s really ready to move on. Is Patrick trying to tell her something? Attempting to navigate between dreams and reality, Kate must uncover her husband’s hidden message. Her quest leads her to a sign language class and into the New York City foster system, where she finds rewards greater than she could have imagined.

My thoughts: I’m super late with this one guys, but I love finding random good books. This book is about 3-4 years old now and although I am late to the party, I am glad that I made it. I am sure many of you have already read The Life Intended by Kristin Harmel, but if you haven’t, you should. It is exactly what I look for in a romance. It doesn’t have that insta-love, and I know authors only have a few pages to hook you but please don’t try to convince me that after 2 meetings and a hot hook-up that it’s love. A good author can inject passing time into a story to make it feel genuine and Kristen Harmel does just that. Although somewhat predictable, I still found myself so drawn to this story that I laughed, cried and mourned with all of the characters.

The one thing that worried me a bit is the fantasy of it all. I like to fancy myself a realist and I don’t really do ghosts or other-worldly messages but for some reason, it really worked with this story. Now when I say ghosts, I am not talking about Casper but more like the Patrick Swayze let’s make pottery kind. The ones you see in your dreams that feel so real you could’ve sworn they were really there with you. Like I said, I was skeptical of it at first but the more I read the more I found myself wanting the protagonist(did I just say that?? Too many literature classes. I guess I am not out of school mode yet)to stay in her dreams. To have the life intended for her and Patrick. Although, when she was awake I was totally rooting for the new guy! So check out this #TBT if you haven’t already, it is definitely worth the read.
