The Secret…Cover & Excerpt Reveal

The Secret - Ebook

Blurb: Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. She helps keep businessman Ethan Archer’s household running without a hitch and enjoys every minute she has with his six-year-old son, Wells. But as time passes, the situation feels alarmingly intimate and when her heart starts beating faster each time Ethan steps through the door, Charlie must exert rigid control over her feelings.

With her secret, falling in love would be all kinds of bad…

Ethan Archer values the woman who keeps his life in order and cares so much for his motherless boy. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience.

What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?

Exclusive Excerpt:

Charlie returned to the kitchen to deal with the dishes and restore the pots and pans to their proper place. She liked tidiness and order in all things—emotions included. Emmaline sometimes accused her of capping off her feelings, and Charlie didn’t disagree. Or find anything wrong with it.

“In my book,” she murmured to herself now, “compartmentalizing isn’t a sin.”

“What’s not a sin?” a masculine voice questioned.

Charlie whirled around, instant heat crawling up her throat and cheeks. “Um, hi, Ethan.” Her boss had been on a business trip for the past couple of weeks. Why hadn’t she taken the time to change into something other than cropped leggings and a matching T-shirt? When was the last time she’d brushed her hair?

He smiled, softening the lines of his lean and handsome face. At their first meeting, he’d claimed to be “on the dark side of thirty-five” but she’d met younger men who didn’t come close to his level of attractiveness.

“Charlotte,” he said now.

She pretended to scowl at him and told herself that she found his use of her full name—he was the only one who ever did use it—irksome. It made her feel too…feminine, and she was supposed to merely be a functional feature in his life. A Charlie.

“Must you?”

His laughter was low, almost intimate. “On occasion, I must.”

Ignoring the traitorous pleasure she felt in his presence, she busied herself with refolding a kitchen towel. “I didn’t hear you come in.”

“You were lost in thought.” A heavy pause. “Something about sinning?”

At the amused and inquisitive tone, she glanced up at him. He looked back, one dark eyebrow winged up and the hint of a smile on his firm lips. A shiver tried working its way down her spine, but she ruthlessly held back the sensation.

“It was nothing,” she said.

“I’m disappointed to hear that.” He laughed again, sounding slightly chagrined. “For a moment I thought one of us was breaking out of our rut.”

Royal Player…Review

Lately, I’ve been on a “monarchy” kick. I’ve watched all sorts of shows on Netflix in relation to Monarchies and boy have I been educated. These people were FREA-KAY and pretty ruthless too. So, when I saw Royal Player come up on my recommendation list I figured I might as well keep the party going.

royalplayerBlurb: Charlie Davenport is the bad boy of British sports – and third in line to the throne. He’s a beast on the courts, and a wild animal in bed (according to all the tabloids). Girls are lining up for chance at his crown jewels, and when I stumble into the wrong Wimbledon dressing room and catch a glimpse of his game, set, AND match, I can see why.

So what’s a little good luck kiss between f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ strangers?

I know better than to get involved with a bad boy like Charlie. But now he’s on a winning streak, he thinks I’m his lucky charm – and you know what’s luckier than a kiss?

Suddenly, I’ve got paparazzi on my trail, exes coming out of the woodwork — and you don’t know ‘cutthroat’ until you’ve seen a pack of hungry socialites set loose near the Royal Family.

I’m in way over my head, and even worse – I’m falling in love. Can this American girl win her Prince Charming? Or will we both crash out of the championships in flames?

Review: Not what I was expecting. It’s cute and I enjoyed reading it but not Royal in the sense that I was hoping. Nonetheless, I fell in love with the Prince. Don’t we all. Emmy and Charlie’s story is what we’ve all come to expect with the whole “regular girl meets rich/royal guy” and falls in love so don’t walk into this expecting much more. That doesn’t take away from the story though because I knocked this out in one sitting. The chemistry and banter between the two main characters kept me interested not to mention the steamy sex scenes. I will say at some point the humping became a bit much for me and I resorted to skimming but, hey, if bumpin uglies til you’re raw is your thing have at it #NoJudgementZone

The “comedy” was ok some things were funny while others fell flat and I am seriously wondering what it takes to make something a romantic comedy. A few jokes here and there does not a comedy make my lovies. However, the drama is in full swing and that I totally love. Nothing makes a story worth reading like full on “Oh no she didn’t” drama and this has a touch of that. Like I said, it kept me turning the pages so 4 solid stars for this, okay maybe more like 3.75 stars…yeah that’s about right 3.75 stars for this romantic “almost” comedy.

Corinne Michaels is awesome. I love her characters and writing style. And just to warn you; even though this is a standalone novel, there are repeating characters and plot lines. I STRONGLY suggest reading The Belonging Duet & The Consolation Duet first.

defenseless cover reveal

Synopsis: My life is a secret. His life is dangerous. We’re both stubborn, calculating, and controlling. Mark Dixon doesn’t know what he’s getting into. He doesn’t know his games could cost us our lives. I have to do what is necessary to keep us alive, and that means guarding my heart.

But I know I’m defenseless against him, and in the end, he’ll force me to surrender.

Review: I love this story. Not only did it answer some questions from the previous two books; it gives me another book boyfriend to love. Mark is silly, lovable and often inappropriate but he is truly a good guy. Charlie is the exact opposite straight-laced, by the book and extremely uptight. She is the yin to his yang.

What brought them together happens early on in the book so you don’t HAVE to read the Consolation Duet (but you should). The excitement starts from the beginning and doesn’t slow down at all. Secrets, cover-ups, guns, terrorists and all around conspiracies drive this love story..that’s right I said love story because ultimately that is exactly what this is. To be honest it’s one of those love stories you don’t realize is a love story until someone says something so sweet and loving you’re like, “Oh. That just happened” defenseless teaser 4 (1)but only because you’ll be just as busy as they are trying to solve the case. Especially if you read Consolation and Conviction!!

I can’t go too deep into this story without giving up some good information and I couldn’t do that to you guys. So just read the darn book(s). 4.5 stars for this novel guys…
